Giving Compass’ Take:

• Brian Trelstad explains how the Impact Management Project aims to create an underlying transparency framework of universal evaluation measurements for investors to understand their environmental and social impact.

• How will transparency in measurement help push impact investing forward? How will a framework make this practice more accessible?

• Learn more about impact investing, here.

Lack of transparency in impact investment is #Solvable. By creating a transparent framework for investors with consistent evaluation measures for impact investing that are as rigorous as financial accounting, Brian Trelstad describes how we can understand the social and environmental impact of any investment.

Brian Trelstad is a partner and board member of Bridges Fund Management, a global impact investment firm based in London and New York. Previously, he served as the Chief Investment Officer of Acumen, where he oversaw investments into companies that were delivering health, water, energy, and agriculture services in South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. Trelstad was one of the principal architects of the Impact Reporting and Investment Standards.

Fueling the Momentum of Impact Investing

As part of this momentum, a few trends have emerged that hold the potential to broaden and deepen the movement, and they are grounding the work we at the Case Foundation are doing alongside a growing alliance of partners in the space. Trend 1: Women and millennials are a driving force. Trend 2: A data-driven ecosystem is burgeoning. Trend 3: Large-scale investors are starting to increase engagement, but more is needed Read the source article at Stanford Social Innovation Review
